Eagle ScoutYou are ready to work on
Eagle; that is great! Here are some
guidelines to help you on your way.
First, you will need to
figure out what project you would like to do for your project. When you get an idea of the project, talk
with the scoutmaster to see if it is something that is qualified as an Eagle
project. When you get the verbal
approval, print out the project workbook and start filling in the blanks. Fill out the front page with your
information, the scoutmaster’s and the advancement person. Meet with the organization that will benefit
from your project. Go over the details
of your project with them. Go home and
write it up. Meet with the organization
again and get their signature. Then meet
with the scoutmaster and the committee chairman to get their approval. After you have secured approvals, go to the
district life to eagle coordinator, Mr. Wernsman and get the district’s
approval.
Then, work. Do your project. Don’t forget to take pictures and make notes
every time you do anything. Keep track
of the people that help you, what days and how long etc. Note when changes are made to the project from
what you planned. Write down everything
you do! Next, you will need to write up
your project details. When you think
your book is ready for review or you are not sure about something, make an
appointment with the advancement chair, Mrs. Shea.
Once your book is ready,
then make an appointment with the scoutmaster, Mr. Shea.
Upon successful completion
of the scoutmaster conference, you will need to meet with Mrs. Shea again to
get a signed verified copy of your advancement record. When you get that put it in the book.
You will then go see the
Committee Chairman, Mr. Boucher, to get his signature on the application.
Now you are ready for a
district review. You will need to call
and setup an appointment with Mr. Powell, the district’s eagle book
coordinator. He will review your book
and let you know if any changes should be made.
When the book is ready you will need to bring it back to the advancement
chair, Mrs. Shea, to get your Eagle Board of Review scheduled.
Before your Eagle Board of
Review can be held, you must send out Eagle Character References. The board must have three of them in order to
hold your board. These reference letters
must be signed by the scoutmaster before you can mail them out to your
references that were listed on the Eagle application. See below.
If you are totally
confused, download or print out the Life to Eagle Packet. It contains a lot of the above information
and the reference letter. Remember you
can always come to Mrs. Shea for help or guidance.
Good luck!
